OUR BILL OF RIGHTS
right - n - That which is just, morally good, legal, proper, or fitting. A just or legal
claim or title.
As Americans we OFTEN fight for our rights or the rights of others. Our Declaration
of Independence says, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are
created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights,
that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these
rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers form the consent
of the governed."
The Bill of Rights includes (among other things):
Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Assembly, Right
to petition the Government for redress of grievances, Right to keep and bear Arms, etc.

Becoming a child of God gives you the following rights:

TO EVERYONE WHO RECEIVES JESUS, GOD GIVES THE RIGHT TO BECOME THE CHILDREN OF GOD:
John 1:11-13 (NIV)
11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to
become children of God--
13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but
born of God.
AS A CHILD OF GOD, YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO "THE CHILDREN'S BREAD":
Matt 15:22-28 (NIV)
22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, "Lord, Son of David,
have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession."
23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send her
away, for she keeps crying out after us."
24 He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel."
25 The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord, help me!" she said.
26 He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their
dogs."
27 "Yes, Lord," she said, "but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from
their masters' table."
28 Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted."
And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
AS CHILDREN OF GOD, WE ARE GIVEN THE RIGHT (OR THE ABILITY OR POWER) TO BE JOINT-HEIRS
WITH JESUS AND OUR FELLOW SAINTS:
Col 1:12-14 (NKJ)
12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of
the saints in the light.
13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the
Son of His love,
14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
AS A CHILD OF GOD, WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE OUR PRAYERS HEARD:
Ps 34:15 (NIV)
15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry;
1 Pet 3:12 (NIV)
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their
prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
AS A CHILD OF GOD, WE HAVE RIGHTS (OR POWERS) OVER THE DEVIL:
Luke 10:19-20 (NAS)
19 "Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over
all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall injure you.
20 "Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but
rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven."
AS A CHILD OF GOD, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT (POWER) TO MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS, AND TO
BAPTIZE FOLKS.
Matt 28:18-20 (NIV)
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been
given to me.
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you
always, to the very end of the age.""
BE CAREFUL AS A CHILD OF GOD NOT TO LET YOUR RIGHTS TREAD ON OTHERS:
1 Cor 8:9-13 (NKJ)
9 But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are
weak.
10 For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol's temple, will not the
conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols?
11 And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
12 But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin
against Christ.
13 Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make
my brother stumble.
