Neanderthals

What Evidence Was Found?

During the 1850's, Darwinists were frantically searching for fossil evidence to support evolution. In 1856, a fossil skullcap and some limb bones were found in the Neander Valley near Duseldorf, Germany. Although the bones were very human, they looked different. Upon examination, professors of anatomy concluded that Neanderthal Man was a human (belonging to the modern species, Homo sapien) and had suffered from bone disease (rickets).

In 1908, an almost complete skeleton of a Neanderthal type was found. The bones had been buried ritualistically in the floor of a small cave in France. Upon their discovery, they were given to Marcellin Boule, a paleontologist, to reconstruct.

What Was the Claim?

Boule did not believe that Neanderthal Man deserved a place as a direct ancestor of humans. He believed that Neanderthals were a side branch of the human evolutionary tree. At the time, Boule was using Piltdown Man as proof that humans dated much further back than Neanderthal. Based on his preconceived ideas, Boule made the first construction of the bones emphasizing the ape-like characteristics rather than the human features. Although there were indications that the vertebrate was severely deformed because of arthritis and rickets, Boule chose to ignore this medical evidence.

The Initial Reconstruction

Boule claimed that the spine lacked the curves that enable modern humans to walk erect. He placed the head in an unbalanced position on the neck, thrust far forward, so that the individual probably would have sprained his neck had he looked at the sky.

Boule also decided that this man could not extend his legs fully, but walked with a bent-knee gait. He made the foot only slightly arched with toes pointing in. Hence, the man would have walked like an ape.

Boule also formed a wide separation between the big toe and other toes, making the big toe more like a thumb, such as in monkeys and apes. Under this construction, Neanderthal Man looked and walked very ape-like. Despite the large brain capacity (about 200 cc larger than the average human), Boule decided that Neanderthal was more closely associated with apes in brainpower, and only had very simple language capability. Because of this construction, many people thought of Neanderthals as "savage" in nature.

Further Findings

This view of Neanderthals dominated the world for over 40 years. In 1957, two medical examiners published a report after having examined the Neanderthal bones. Both concluded that Neanderthal had been incorrectly reconstructed. Their study revealed that Neanderthal stood erect, not hunched over, and walked normally as humans do today. It is now admitted that the differences between modern humans and Neanderthals are only superficial.

"Detailed comparison of Neanderthal skeletal remains with those of modern humans have shown that there is nothing in Neanderthal anatomy that conclusively indicates locomotor, manipulative, intellectual, or linguistic abilities inferior to those of modern humans."

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.

4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.

5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning-- the first day.

A DAY?? NOT MILLIONS OF YEARS?? THE HEBREW WORD DAY IS:

3117 yowm (yome);

from an unused root meaning to be hot; a day (as the warm hours), a solar day (24 hour period)

The Bible records just 6000 years of human history .. is it POSSIBLE that the earth is REALLY only 6000 years OLD?? What about MODERN SCIENTIFIC DATING METHODS ??:

a) LAVA FLOW DATING (From the Institute for Creation Research)

The conventional K-Ar dating method was applied to the 1986 dacite flow from the new lava dome at Mount St. Helens, Washington. Porphyritic dacite which solidified on the surface of the lava dome in 1986 gives a whole rock K-Ar 'age ' of 0.35 ± 0.05 million years (Ma). Mineral concentrates from the dacite which formed in 1986 give K-Ar 'ages 'from 0.34 ± 0.06 Ma (feldspar-glass concentrate) to 2.8 ± 0.6 Ma (pyroxene concentrate). These 'ages 'are, of course, preposterous. . . . The study of this Mount St. Helens dacite causes the more fundamental question to be askedhow accurate are K-Ar 'ayes 'from the many other phenocryst-containing lava flows world-wide?

b) Helium in the Earth's Atmosphere

All naturally occurring families of radioactive elements generate helium as they decay. If such decay took place for billions of years, as alleged by evolutionists, much helium should have found its way into the earth's atmosphere.

What Is Helium and How Is It Formed?

Helium is a colorless, odorless gas. It is the second lightest (atomic weight of 4.0026) of all the elements (hydrogen is the lightest). Helium is produced beneath the earth's surface by the process of radioactive decay. When some of the radioactive isotopes undergo alpha decay (decreases in the mass of the element), they give off an alpha particle. This particle consists of two protons and two neutrons, and is equivalent to the nucleus of a helium atom. This atom, because it is very small, lightweight, and mobile, migrates through the pores in the rock and eventually makes its way to the surface of the earth, where it joins the other gases in the atmosphere. Estimates of how much helium is in the atmosphere and how fast it is being added to the atmosphere give an age of the earth's atmosphere as very young and not millions or billions of years. Evolutionist's response: The helium has escaped into outer space.

Helium Loss in the Atmosphere

The rate of loss of helium from the atmosphere into space is calculable and small. Taking that loss into account, the atmosphere today has only 0.05% of the amount of helium it would have accumulated in 4.6 billion years. This means the atmosphere is much younger than the alleged evolutionary age.

c) Oil and Gas Deposits

When oil reservoirs are tapped by drilling, the immense pressure in the reservoir forces up a spouting geyser. The abnormally high pressures found in wells indicate that they are of recent formation in the order of thousands of years ago. Calculations of fluid flow through porous rock and sediment indicate that pressures would have dissipated in only thousands of years. If the reservoirs are young, then the sediments which contain them would also be of recent origin.

"Studies show that any pressure built should be dissipated, bled off into surrounding rocks, within a few thousand years. The excessive pressures found in oil beds, therefore, refute the notion of their age being on the order of millions of years and argues for the youthful age (less than 10,000 years) of the rock formations and the entrapped oil."

The broader question might be asked: How can oil or gases remain under great pressure for millions of years without dispersing and leaking through to the surface?

Conclusion: The great pressure that still surrounds oil formations provides evidence for a young earth.

d) CANYON FORMATION:

How long it would take to form a canyon several hundred feet deep is: not very long. Since 1980, up to 600 feet of new strata have formed at Mount St. Helens. On March 19, 1982, a mudflow caused significant erosion just north of Mount St. Helens. The canyon carved out by this mudflow, called "The Little Grand Canyon", is over 100 feet deep and was formed in a single day.

e) DELTA FILLING:

The Mississippi River dumps about 300 million cubic yards of sediment into the Gulf of Mexico each year. If that river were MILLIONS of years old, the gulf would have been filled LONG AGO. By measuring the rate of growth of the delta (about 250 ft/yr) its ages calculates to about 4000 years.

f) DENDROCHRONOLOGY - Some species of trees, for example Bristlecone Pines, are able to live for THOUSANDS of years. There is apparently NO REASON that they could not live for 10s of thousands of years yet ALL of them date less than about 6000 years.

g) EARTHS MAGNETIC FIELD is decaying measurably - using todays knowledge of the decay of Earths magnetic field, we can extrapolate back to see how strong it USED to be. Because of the Juell Effect, 20,000 years ago, the magnetic field would be so strong that the HEAT would cause the earth to b LIQUID. 1,000,000 years?? Gas.

h) THE ROTATION OF THE EARTH IS SLOWING MEASURABLY - check the news .. a leap SECOND had to be added during this past leap year to keep the TIME correct on this planet. Extrapolate back 10 billion years and the Earth would be spinning SO FAST it would look like a PANCAKE with a bulge in the middle.

I) COSMIC DUST - the Earth AND MOON are constantly being blanketed by cosmic dust. During the Apollo Moon Project, scientists were worried that the Moon lander and Neil Armstrong would be BURIED in 24 to 100 feet of dust. When the Eagle landed, they discovered only a thin veneer of dust, indicating a Moon that is only a few thousand years old.

j) POPULATION STATISTICS - Pn = 2/c-1(Cn-x=1)(Cx-1) In 1820 years, P=4.34 billion. In 1,000,000 years, P=10 to the 5000th power . . . That is MORE PEOPLE than would FIT in the ENTIRE UNIVERSE.

CONCLUSION - Gods Word can be trusted from Genesis to Revelation. How could we believe in John 3:16 if we dont believe the first chapters of Genesis?? Science is MORE and MORE PROVING that Gods account is CORRECT and MORE and MORE scientists are GIVING UP on the NON-PROVABLE THEORY of Evolution ! ! !
