THROUGH THE CROSS
God established certain spiritual laws and that come THOUGH the cross and are still in effect today ... other laws STOPPED at the cross !

FIRST, what STOPPED at the cross??
The law of sacrificing animals:
Num 19:1-4 (NIV)
1 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron:
2 "This is a REQUIREMENT OF THE LAW that the LORD has commanded: Tell the Israelites to bring you a red heifer without defect or blemish and that has never been under a yoke.
3 Give it to Eleazar the priest; it is to be taken outside the camp and slaughtered in his presence.
4 Then Eleazar the priest is to take some of its blood on his finger and sprinkle it seven times toward the front of the Tent of Meeting.
Jesus became the ONE sacrifice for all time:
Heb 7:25-27 (NIV)
25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
26 Such a high priest meets our need-- one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.

If you were here, I would draw a CROSS and write animal sacrifices on the left, then draw an arrow that STOPS at the cross .. THEN I would write The Ten Commandments and draw an arrow that goes THROUGH the CROSS indicating that The Ten Commandments are still in effect today :)
Exod 20:1-17 (NIV)
1 And God spoke all these words:
2 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
3 (1) "You shall have no other gods before me.
4 (2) "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
6 but showing love to a thousand [generations] of those who love me and keep my commandments.
7 (3) "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
8 (4) "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates.
11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
12 (5) "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
13 (6) "You shall not murder.
14 (7) "You shall not commit adultery.
15 (8) "You shall not steal.
16 (9) "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
17 (10) "You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."
Jesus came to FULFIL the law (to live it):
Matt 5:17(NIV)
17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

There are other spiritual principals that come through the cross, but I felt the leading to share only this one more today:
Mal 3:10-12 (NIV)
10 BRING THE WHOLE TITHE INTO THE STOREHOUSE, that there may be food in my house. TEST ME IN THIS," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit," says the LORD Almighty.
12 "Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land," says the LORD Almighty.
Jesus said:
Matt 23:23 (NIV)
23 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices-- mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law-- justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
