KNOWING THE FATHER

Jesus always said, “The Father and I are one”. I don’t understand exactly how God can be one, yet three persons, but He IS ! ! ! We are here TODAY on Father’s Day to learn more about OUR FATHER ! !

Eph 1:1-8 (NIV)

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God (The Father), To the saints in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus (The Son):

2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father (The Father) and the Lord Jesus Christ(The Son).

3 Praise be to the God (The Father) and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ(The Son), who (The Father) has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ(The Son).

4 For he (The Father) chose us in him (The Son) before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his (The Father’s) sight. In love

5 he (The Father) predestined us to be adopted as his (The Father’s) sons through Jesus Christ(The Son), in accordance with his (The Father’s) pleasure and will--

6 to the praise of his (The Father’s) glorious grace, which he (The Father) has freely given us in the One (The Son) he loves.

7 In him (The Son) we have redemption through his (The Son’s) blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's (The Father’s) grace

8 that he (The Father) lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

Knowledge of the Father and the Son brings us everything we need for life and godliness:

2 Pet 1:2-3 (NIV)

2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God (The Father) and of Jesus our Lord (The Son).

3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. (The Father)

Dan 7:9-14 (NIV)

9 "As I looked, "thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days (The Father) took his seat. His (The Father) clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His (The Father) throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze.

10 A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before him(The Father). Thousands upon thousands attended him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him(The Father). The court was seated, and the books were opened.

11 "Then I continued to watch because of the boastful words the horn was speaking. I kept looking until the beast was slain and its body destroyed and thrown into the blazing fire.

12 (The other beasts had been stripped of their authority, but were allowed to live for a period of time.)

13 "In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man(The Son), coming with the clouds of heaven. He(The Son) approached the Ancient of Days (The Father) and was led into his presence.

14 He(The Son) was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His (The Son) dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his(The Son) kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.

Here is one of the REASONS we need to get to KNOW the Father. The Father is above ALL ! ! ! Jesus will reign until ALL THINGS are under His feet, THEN . . .

1 Cor 15:24-28 (NIV)

24 Then the end will come, when he (The Son) hands over the kingdom to God(The Father) the Father after he (The Son) has destroyed all dominion, authority and power.

25 For he (The Son) must reign until he (The Father) has put all his enemies under his (The Son’s) feet.

26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death.

27 For he (The Father) "has put everything under his (The Son’s) feet." Now when it says that "everything" has been put under him (The Son), it is clear that this does not include God (The Father) himself, who put everything under Christ (The Son).

28 When he (The Father) has done this, then the Son (The Son) himself will be made subject to him (The Father) who put everything under him (The Son), so that God (The Father) may be all in all.
