ANGER
James 1:19-20 (NAS)
19 {This} you know, my beloved brethren. But let everyone be quick to hear, slow to speak {and} slow to anger;
20 for the anger of man DOES NOT achieve the righteousness of God.
MOSES - ANGER:
Num 20:1-12 (NIV)
1 In the first month the whole Israelite community arrived at the Desert of Zin, and they stayed at Kadesh. There Miriam died and was buried.
2 Now there was no water for the community, and the people gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron.
3 THEY QUARRELED WITH MOSES and said, "If only we had died when our brothers fell dead before the LORD!
4 WHY DID YOU BRING THE LORD'S COMMUNITY INTO THIS DESERT, THAT WE AND OUR LIVESTOCK SHOULD DIE HERE?
5 WHY DID YOU BRING US UP OUT OF EGYPT TO THIS TERRIBLE PLACE? It has no grain or figs, grapevines or pomegranates. And there is no water to drink!"
6 Moses and Aaron went from the assembly to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and fell facedown, and the glory of the LORD appeared to them.
7 The LORD said to Moses,
8 "Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink."
9 So Moses took the staff from the LORD's presence, just as he commanded him.
10 He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock and Moses said to them, "Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?"
11 Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.
12 But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them."
DAVID - NO ANGER:
1 Sam 17:41-51 (NIV)
41 Meanwhile, the Philistine, with his shield bearer in front of him, kept coming closer to David.
42 He looked David over and saw that he was only a boy, ruddy and handsome, and he despised him.
43 He said to David, "Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?" And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
44 "Come here," he said, "and I'll give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!"
45 David said to the Philistine, "YOU COME AGAINST ME WITH SWORD AND SPEAR AND JAVELIN, BUT I COME AGAINST YOU IN THE NAME OF THE LORD ALMIGHTY, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
46 THIS DAY THE LORD WILL HAND YOU OVER TO ME, AND I'LL STRIKE YOU DOWN AND CUT OFF YOUR HEAD. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.
47 All those gathered here will know that IT IS NOT BY SWORD OR SPEAR THAT THE LORD SAVES; FOR THE BATTLE IS THE LORD'S, and he will give all of you into our hands."
48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.
49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.
50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.
51 David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine's sword and drew it from the scabbard. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.
JESUS - ANGER, BUT NO SIN:
Mark 3:1-6 (NIV)
1 Another time he went into the synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there.
2 Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath.
3 Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, "Stand up in front of everyone."
4 Then Jesus asked them, "Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?" But they remained silent.
5 HE LOOKED AROUND AT THEM IN ANGER and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored.
6 Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians how they might kill Jesus.
THE LORDS SERVANT MUST NOT STRIVE (WAR, QUARREL)
2 Tim 2:22-26 (NIV)
22 Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue RIGHTEOUSNESS, FAITH, LOVE AND PEACE, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23 Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.
24 And THE LORD'S SERVANT MUST NOT QUARREL; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.
25 Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth,
26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
GODS WISDOM:
James 3:13-18 (NAS)
13 Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.
14 But if you have BITTER JEALOUSY AND SELFISH AMBITION in your heart, do not be arrogant and {so} lie against the truth.
15 THIS WISDOM IS NOT THAT WHICH COMES DOWN FROM ABOVE, BUT IS EARTHLY, NATURAL, DEMONIC.
16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.
17 But THE WISDOM FROM ABOVE IS FIRST PURE, THEN PEACEABLE, GENTLE, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.
18 And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
THE DISCIPLES DISPLAYING THE WRONG SPIRIT:
Luke 9:52-56 (NAS)
52 and He sent messengers on ahead of Him. And they went, and entered a village of the Samaritans, to make arrangements for Him.
53 And they did not receive Him, because He was journeying with His face toward Jerusalem.
54 And when His disciples James and John saw {this,} they said, "LORD, DO YOU WANT US TO COMMAND FIRE TO COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN AND CONSUME THEM?"
55 But He turned and rebuked them, [and said, "YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT KIND OF SPIRIT YOU ARE OF;
56 FOR THE SON OF MAN DID NOT COME TO DESTROY MEN'S LIVES, BUT TO SAVE THEM."] And they went on to another village.
