THE BLOOD

WHAT DOES THE BLOOD OF JESUS REALLY MEAN TO ME . . . ? TODAY WE WILL CONSIDER 3 THINGS:

1). WE WERE FORGIVEN BY HIS BLOOD ! :)

John 1:26-29 (NIV)

26 "I baptize with water," John replied, "but among you stands one you do not know.

27 He is the one who comes after me, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie."

28 This all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who TAKES AWAY THE SIN OF THE WORLD!

Consider the Words of these hymns about the Blood:

“ there is a fountain filled with blood,

drawn from Emanuel's veins.

And sinners plunge beneath that flood,

LOSE ALL THEIR GUILTY STAINS. “

“What can WASH AWAY my sin?

Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

What can make me whole again?

Nothing but the blood of Jesus.'

Down where for CLEANSING FROM sin I cried.

There to my heart was the blood applied.

28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the FORGIVENESS OF SINS.

2). WE WERE BOUGHT BY HIS BLOOD ! ! :)

Acts 20:28 (NIV)

28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which HE BOUGHT WITH HIS OWN BLOOD.

Rev 5:7-10 (NIV)

7 He came and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne.

8 And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

9 And they sang a new song: "You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and WITH YOUR BLOOD YOU PURCHASED MEN FOR GOD from every tribe and language and people and nation.

10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth."

3). WE “EAT, SLEEP, & DRINK” HIS BLOOD ! ! :)

HOW DO WE “DRINK THE BLOOD AND EAT THE FLESH OF THE SON OF MAN”

You know the expression, “He eats, sleeps, & drinks his job (or the children, or that hobby)” . . .

We need to be THAT INVOLVED with Jesus (with our study of His Word, our thoughts of Him, and our actions for Him in order to be “eating and drinking” the “blood and flesh” of the Son of God :)

John 6:53-57

53 Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you EAT THE FLESH OF THE SON OF MAN AND DRINK HIS BLOOD, you have no life in you.

54 Whoever EATS MY FLESH AND DRINKS MY BLOOD has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.

56 Whoever EATS MY FLESH AND DRINKS MY BLOOD REMAINS IN ME, AND I IN HIM.

57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.

ADAM CLARKE said this scripture means we must “partake of the Holy Spirit just like Paul said, “to be made to drink into one Spirit.” <1 Cor. 12:13>,

MATTHEW HENRY said this scripture means we “work for the meat he spoke of, (we) must labour for it (the Body & Blood)”

I say, “Let’s BELIEVE, CONFESS, and DO (thereby ‘eating and drinking’ Jesus):

Rom 10:9-11(NIV)

9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is with your heart that you BELIEVE AND ARE JUSTIFIED, and it is with your mouth that you CONFESS AND ARE SAVED.

11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--

9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

10 For we are God's workmanship, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS TO DO GOOD WORKS, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
