VOTE RIGHTEOUS
This is NOT a sermon about WHO YOU ARE in Christ, today .. nor is this a sermon on “You Are The Righteousness of God in Christ”. This is a sermon on RIGHTEOUSNESS, as in how we LIVE, and RIGHT MORALS, and RIGHT LANGUAGE, and RIGHT CHOICES . . .

The year was 1830, the scars of the French Revolution were still fresh, and their society was plagued by unparalleled corruption and criminality. Mr. De Tocqueville was commissioned by the French government to study American society and to discover why there was so little crime in this infant nation. This is what he wrote: 
``I sought for the greatness of the United States in her commodious harbors, her ample rivers, her fertile fields, and boundless forests _ and it was not there. I sought for it in her rich mines, her vast world commerce, her public schools system and in her institutions of higher learning _ and it was not there. I looked for it in her democratic Congress and her matchless Constitution _ and it was not there. Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because America is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great!''

There are 3 reasons that every Christian must vote righteously . . .

1. RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTS A NATION, BUT SIN IS A REPROACH TO ANY PEOPLE.

Prov 14:34 (KJV)
34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

34 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.

The word REPROACH or DISGRACE means to bow the head . . . DO WE WANT HEADS BOWED IN SHAME ANY MORE IN THIS COUNTRY?? IF NOT, THEN VOTE RIGHTEOUS ! ! !

IF you succumb to the pressure of voting for NON-RIGHTEOUS candidates, you are TRUSTING your JOB or your UNION and NOT TRUSTING GOD ! ! ! GOD says “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people”
IF we vote for RIGHTEOUS reasons, then GOD will see to your JOB and your FUTURE.

2. WHEN IT COMES TO VOTING, DO YOU PLEASE MAN OR DO YOU PLEASE GOD??

25 The FEAR OF MAN bringeth a SNARE: but whoso putteth his TRUST IN THE LORD SHALL BE SAFE.

Every election is important in this country. There is an election coming up Nov. 7th and some of you are getting pressure from work or your union to vote a certain way . . . I AM GOING TO GIVE YOU PRESSURE FROM THE WORD OF THE LORD TO VOTE RIGHTEOUS and may the BEST MAN WIN ! ! !

Trusting in MAN never works .. the children of Israel were being led DIRECTLY by God, and yet they demanded a King like ALL THE REST OF THE COUNTRIES AROUND THEM ... what did they get?? King Saul .... in all fairness, they also got a King David, but after that, MOST of the kings did EVIL in the sight of the LORD.

3. THE ISSUES (WHAT A CANDIDATE BELIEVES).

1. RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTS A NATION, BUT SIN IS A REPROACH TO ANY PEOPLE.

2. WHEN IT COMES TO VOTING, DO YOU PLEASE MAN OR DO YOU PLEASE GOD??

3. THE ISSUES (WHAT A CANDIDATE BELIEVES).
The issue of abortion ALONE is enough to choose one candidate over another . . . it is WRONG to abort babies. They are HUMAN PERSONS . . . 
Jer 1:1-5 (NIV)
1 The words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests at Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin.
2 The word of the LORD came to him in the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah,
3 and through the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, down to the fifth month of the eleventh year of Zedekiah son of Josiah king of Judah, when the people of Jerusalem went into exile.

Luke 1:35-45 (NIV)
35 The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.
36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month.
37 For nothing is impossible with God."
38 "I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left her.
39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea,
40 where she entered Zechariah's home and greeted Elizabeth.
41 When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, THE BABY LEAPED IN HER WOMB, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!
43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
45 Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!"

Colleen told me of a procedure in which the baby was completely removed from the mother for surgery. As soon as the incision was made in the bag around the baby, a little hand reached out and grabbed the doctor’s finger. This is all on video tape. DON’T TELL ME THE CHILD IS NOT HUMAN or that it is NOT ALIVE.

We call the unborn child a FETUS, to lessen the guilt of abortion ... the guilt REMAINS ... the child is a CHILD, not a CHOICE.


ANOTHER ISSUE is the CHARACTER of the candidate . . . Are they KNOWN LIARS, have they changed their stand on issues for political gain, do they have the GUTS to declare what is right and what is WRONG . . .

During the VP debate, BOTH candidates waffled on the issue of gay marriage . . they each said that they would be tolerant.

If you watched the 2nd presidential debate, when ONE of the candidates was asked if he believed in gay marriage, he said, NO, I believe in a man and a woman being married .. I believe it is a SACRED INSTITUTION ! ! !

RIGHTEOUSNESS WAS DECLARED TO THE NATION ! ! ! I can’t tell you who that candidate was, but you are intelligent people .. you will FIND OUT, and NOW I BELIEVE you will VOTE RIGHTEOUSLY ! ! !

As my CLOSING POINT, PLEASE HEAR the words of Daniel Webster:

"If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will go on prospering and to prosper; but if we and our posterity neglect its instructions and authority, no man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overwhelm us and bury all our glory in profound obscurity."
